Hikes in Brekkedalen and Rjupedalen

Brekkedalen

Brekkedalen is an idyllic, remote valley in the mountain area between Brekke and Meland. In earlier times, there were two summer farms here, Brekkesetra and Berstadsetra.

Rjupedalen runs straight south from Meland and ends in a basin with high mountains rising behind it. There are two summer farms in Rjupedalen, Melandsetra and Dispasetra. At the innermost part of the valley, there is excellent grazing for sheep, and it is a fine starting point for hikes to Storskredfjellet.

The starting points for hikes in these valleys are Åning and Meland. Both places have parking areas, and there are cleared trails leading above the tree line.
