Seljefloten

This area is called Seljefloten. The name comes from the fact that willow trees used to grow abundantly here, but now rowan and grey alder have taken over. The word "floten" refers to a small flat area or meadow in the landscape.
Farm girls and boys who worked on the summer farms used to rest at Seljefloten. There is a flat stone of suitable height where they would place the milk pails when they had a heavy load to carry down from the summer farm.
When they walked unburdened (without a load), they typically didn’t use resting spots along the way to the summer farm.
