Home Pasture and Summer Pasture

Here, you can see the remnants of another stone wall, which marked an important boundary in earlier times: the division between the home pasture and the summer pasture. Notice that spruce trees have been planted in the home pasture, while the summer pasture, which is collectively owned, still features natural woodland.
In the past, a brush fence was built along the edge of the river gorge to prevent livestock from falling into the gorge. It required a lot of maintenance to keep the fence in good condition, so later on, they planted spruce trees along the edge instead. This not only helped protect the animals but also became a more sustainable solution over time.
