Hike description
The hike to Hellskora is a great alternative for those who think it would be too long and difficult to go all the way up to the Segestad mountain farm.
Hellskora is only 130 m above sea level. From the car park, the distance is 1.2 km. The detour to the viewpoint towards Glomnesfossen is 300 meters. You should allow one and a half hours for the entire hike.
You can park at the car park 200 meters from the Glomnes farm. Please remember to pay the fee!
You walk along the private road through the Glomnes farm and cross the river Glomsdøla. Immediately after the bridge, take the road that turns 90 degrees to the right up a steep hill.
When you pass three cabins (Glomnes holiday cabins), the road ends, but a path continues up a new steep hill. You come to a flat section where the path splits. Here you can choose whether you want to go directly towards Hellskora/Segestad or whether you want to go to the viewpoint towards Glomnesfossen (a waterfall). The last one is recommended if you haven't been there before!
A small dam has been built under the waterfall in recent years. The water is sluiced down to a mini power-plant.
From the viewpoint towards the waterfall, you can take a shortcut towards the path to Hellskora/Segestad. See the map.
The path further on is rather steep and the surface is uneven, but manageable with good footwear.
Hellskora is an impressive vantage point that shows the lake Oppstrynsvatnet surrounded by high mountains and glaciers. Do not go too far out on the edge!
